COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (August 22, 2017) – Comedian Carlos Mencia will perform Friday, October 20, at 8 p.m. in The Pavilion at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.
Tickets priced at $40/$80 per person are on sale now via Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com, or by calling 800-653-8000. The Pavilion box office will also open at 1 p.m. on the day of the show for on-site ticket purchases and will call pickup.
A Honduran-born comedian, writer and actor, Mencia is best known as the host of the former Comedy Central show Mind of Mencia, which aired for four seasons. His style of comedy is often political and involves race, culture, criminal justice and social class.
The 17th of 18 children in his family, Mencia dropped out of Cal State Los Angeles in the late 1980s to pursue a career in comedy after a successful performance at an open mic night at The Laugh Factory. He would go on to become a regular at The Comedy Store where he would perform as often as possible.
A co-owner of the restaurant chain Maggie Rita’s, Mencia once starred in a Super Bowl commercial for Bud Light. He has also appeared in commercials for a weight-loss product called Belly Burner, which he claimed to have used personally.
Mencia, who will celebrate his 50th birthday just two days after his Seminole Casino Coconut Creek show, appears to have a simple approach to life.
“If you ain’t laughing, you ain’t living,” he lists on his Facebook page.
